The Dubuque County Conservation Board was created through a popular vote by county residents in 1957. Since then, according to Executive Director Brian Preston, there hasn’t been any formal long-term or strategic plans outlined for the organization. That’s something conservation employees and board members plan to change. Over the coming weeks, conservation officials will host informational and input meetings throughout the county that will give the public the opportunity to propose programming and short- and long-term goals for the conservation group. Preston said the meetings will help the group solidify specific goals for the future and formalize a mission statement. “I think it’s really important (that) we get input from the public on what they want us to be working on,” he said. “We want to spark conversation.”
